wilderness gathering bow drill.

Here is a short video of me using the Bow drill to light my fire at the wilderness gathering,Things were abit damp due to the downpours that happened on thursday and saturday ,but i got there in the end.

Bow drill

Well i finally managed to get my first ember the other day using the bow drill.For the drill i used Hazel, and for the hearth board an old piece of pallet, which i believe to be popular as most pallets are made out of it.The bearing block is a piece of holly .Here is a couple of pictures of my bow drill set and the ember it created.Video to come shortly.

Above is a video of me lighting a fire using my flint and steel kit at the Bushcraft magazine mayday meet this year.I caught the the spark using amadou,and then a piece of cramp ball as an ember extender into a nest of dried grasses.
