hoof fungus

Found these today growing on a old beech tree half way up a wooded hill.I believe them to be artists conk(Ganoderma applanatum) .As the name suggests you can draw on the under side of the fungus and it will dry out and stay permanent.You can also make a tinder out of it although not as good as true tinder fungus(fomes fomentarius).
